“The poor child was now all alone in the great forest, and she was so afraid that she just looked at all the leaves on the trees and did not know what to do. Then she began to run. She ran over sharp stones and through thorns, and wild animals jumped at her, but they did her no harm. She ran as far as her feet could carry her, and just as evening was about to fall, she saw a little house and went inside in order to rest.”

Little Snow White, Brothers Grimm

The present is a constant in-between. Our ever- continuing journey travels on and on and on, we never quite get where we want to be. But we’re not alone on the journey. Around us, are whispers. Not whispers of voices, but thoughts and actions that lead us onto our next temporary environment. On different days and nights, there may seem like a clear path ahead and the whispers are quiet or far and few between. At other times, there may be more or they may be louder and it’s not so clear what direction should be taken next. But through the whispers that come from different directions, this leads us on. What is lurking ahead in the darkness? What will we face next? We don’t know until we choose which whisper to follow next, and we travel on.
